End Expansion of Medical Assistance in Dying

Whereas by March 2024, those suffering from mental illnesses like depression will have access to assisted death, even if their condition is treatable.

Whereas the government is quickly moving from a culture of life towards a culture of death in which greater priority is given to suicide assistance than suicide prevention.

Whereas the Liberal government continues to ignore the growing number of experts who say that MAiD expansion is risking the lives of the most vulnerable Canadians.

Whereas the heads of psychiatry at Canada’s 17 medical schools have all raised serious concerns about this legislation specifically highlighting that it is impossible to determine the irremediability of mental illness.

Whereas Conservatives will continue to defend those who are left behind and provide Canadians struggling with mental health hope and treatment.

We the undersigned call on the Liberal government to protect vulnerable Canadians and immediately END their radical expansion of medically assisted death to those with mental illness.
