Whereas Canada was founded on the principles of freedom, democracy, and individual rights enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms;
Whereas freedom of expression, freedom of the press, and freedom of peaceful assembly are fundamental to a healthy and open society;
Whereas the Liberal government's actions and legislative proposals have raised concerns about censorship, surveillance, and restrictions on speech, both online and offline;
Whereas efforts to control or limit what Canadians can see, say, and share—whether through social media regulation, digital content controls, or ideological pressure—threaten the very freedoms that define our nation;
Whereas Canada must remain a beacon of liberty and free thought in an increasingly authoritarian world;
Whereas Canada is strongest when its people are free. We urge all Canadians—regardless of political affiliation—to stand together in defence of our shared rights and freedoms.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, call upon the Government of Canada to:
- Uphold and protect the Charter rights of all Canadians, including the right to free expression and open access to information;
- Reject and repeal any legislation or policy like C-8 and C-9 that imposes censorship, limits lawful speech, or restricts Canadians’ ability to communicate freely online or in public;
- Ensure transparency and accountability in all government decisions affecting digital platforms, media, and public discourse;
- Foster open debate and dialogue instead of promoting “cancel culture” or ideological conformity;
- Reaffirm Canada’s commitment to liberty, personal responsibility, and democratic principles for all citizens.
